Seasoning is important to BBQ. As you can read on our sister site BYS BBQ the seasoning pieces on building a rub is complex and levels are determined by the user. We had a blended rub that we had developed through the Facebook site. We tried the rub and let me tell you this rub is sweet and earthy with heat on the back end, pretty complex. Now its a bit spicier to some that are super sensitive to peppers. But, we found that it worked well on poultry, pork and even beef! Its well rounded in flavors and surprised us with its ability to go with veggies even!!! Check it out below, and pop it in a shaker to have on hand for a splash of flavor!
Rub Recipe
4 TBS Chili powder
2 TBS Smoked Paprika
1 TBS Cayenne Pepper
1TBS Black Pepper
2 TSP Celery salt
1 TSP Cinnamon
2 TSP Kosher Salt
1TBS Cumin
1TBS JayellBlack Label XXX Killer Seasoning
1TBS Turmeric
3 TSP Garlic
Mix well, and as with all rub recipes I employ you to try it raw and make any adjustments you feel you need (likely the heat for sensitive taste buds) Sweetener will tone the heat down or you could omit the Jayell Black Label XXX Killer Seasoning, as its not for the faint of heart, but has complexity. Let us know what you think of this rub. We used it in the Keto-Q test cookers and found it to be a great general purpose rub, for most cuts available.
